Classificação de documentos
A classificação e a segurança dos documentos constituem uma questão importante para as empresas e os governos.
A informação é trocada entre utilizadores e organizações que colaboram com o objetivo de alcançar um objetivo empresarial. Quando estão em causa informações confidenciais, presume-se que as partes tenham acordado quais as informações que são confidenciais e como essas informações serão identificadas e tratadas. Qualquer destinatário de um recurso confiará no fornecedor da informação para que este siga os procedimentos acordados para identificar o caráter confidencial da informação.
O LibreOfficeDev fornece meios padronizados para a expressão dessas informações de sensibilidade e pode ser utilizado entre as partes caso se pretenda implementar sistemas interoperáveis. Fornece um conjunto de «campos» padrão que podem ser utilizados para armazenar informações de sensibilidade. Não pretende definir qual deve ser o conteúdo desses «campos». Esta abordagem constitui uma melhoria em relação à única alternativa existente neste momento, que consiste no fornecedor utilizar meios arbitrários para expressar a sensibilidade, o que pode não ser útil para o destinatário.
Embora esta norma tenha sido desenvolvida com o objetivo de ser aplicável em qualquer domínio de atividade, a LibreOfficeDev manteve a nomenclatura e as categorias da indústria aeroespacial e de defesa, onde a classificação de sensibilidade decorre de políticas de segurança nacional, controlo de exportações e propriedade intelectual.
O LibreOfficeDev implementou os padrões abertos desenvolvidos pela TSCP (Transglobal Secure Collaboration Participation, Inc.) de forma independente de qualquer fornecedor específico. Dois deles são dignos de destaque:

O Business Authentication Framework (BAF) especifica como descrever a política existente (que provavelmente consiste num texto jurídico) num formato legível por máquina.

O Esquema de Identificação e Rotulagem de Autorizações Empresariais (BAILS) especifica como fazer referência a uma política BAF num documento. Os conceitos do BAILS são tão genéricos que podem ser aplicados a qualquer formato que suporte propriedades definidas pelo utilizador ao nível do documento.

The default BAF categories for LibreOfficeDev are listed below.
Only the "Intellectual Properties" category will modify the layout of the document with a watermark, fields in the header and footer and an information bar on top of the document area. Each item inserted in the document is controlled by the classification configuration file.
Intellectual Property
Intellectual property is a generic term for the nature of the contents of the document. Select this category for general purpose document classification.
National Security
Selects the category of this document for the national security policy type. The selected category is saved together with the document as BAILS metadata in the file properties and no modifications is carried in the document layout or the user interface.
Export Control
Selects the category of this document for the export control policy type. The selected category is saved together with the document as BAILS metadata in the file properties and no modifications is carried in the document layout or the user interface.

Default levels of classification
LibreOfficeDev provides default levels of document classification (BAILS) shown below, sorted by increasing level of business sensitivity:

Non-Business: Information in document has no impact in business, if made public.

General Business: Minor impact. Information has impact in business, can generate embarrassments, minor damage in brand image, if made public.

Confidential: Modest impact. Information disclosed can damage business brand, can generate negative media coverage and loss of revenue.

Internal use only: Major damage. Negative national media, lawsuits, fines, long term brand damages.
Customizing classification levels.
LibreOfficeDev allows customization of the levels of classification for your business. To customize the number and the name of the levels, copy the file example.xml located in into a local folder and edit the contents.
Use the file with your LibreOfficeDev locale in the name as example.
Save the file and make the adequate changes to the classification path above to access the file.
Your system administrator can place the file in a network folder and make all users access the classification settings file.
Pasting contents in documents with different levels of classification.
To prevent a breach in the security policy, contents with high classification level pasted to documents with lower classification level are not allowed. LibreOfficeDev will display a warning message wherever it detects that the contents of the clipboard have higher security classification than the target document.
